AuthorHudson Ludy or Yummy Burrito Studios! I've been doing brickfilms since 2012, but I just recently began publishing them. I'm always looking for ways to improve, I like seeing other peoples work, and helping them get even better.
This year, over thirty brickfilmers from many different nations participated in THAC. THAC stand for The (Twenty Four) Hour Animation Contest. Everything, story, set building, animation, editing, and submission are done all in a twenty-four hour period. Some entries turn out astonishingly well, while others don't. I had not known about this contest until the recent month of September. I found Bricks In Motion, the site the contest is hosted on, then. I found out about Brawl, Spirit Of Adventure, and THAC. I really wanted to participate when the date was announced, but I realized that the contest was right at the time my family and I were on the road. I eventually found myself in a hotel. My THACumnetary explains it pretty well.
The main reason for this blog is I wanted to put some of my favorite THAC entries this year, and why. Without further nonsense, here we go!
Knight and Ninja Fight the Alien Alliance
This video was done quite well by our good friend, Suited Ninja Nerd. It is actually really impressive for the twenty-four hour time period. Suited Ninja Nerd has really been focused on set design in his past videos, he has no less downgraded in his quality for THAC. His sets are very intricate. I also liked how he used the "City Pizza" sticker for a poster. His lighting is also fantastic. The ally scene is very impressive lighting wise.

Assault of the Ninja Squids
We all know Pongowl is awesome. I mean his latest hit, "Unbridled Mischief" was recommended on Brick a Brack, and the Frame 100 Podcast. I think he may have even stepped up a notch in quality with this one. He has a way of keeping the Minifigures very still while he moves the parts that should be moving. (If that makes any sense). If you look really close, he even had the heads moving while they were talking. Another Pongowl classic.

Love and Hate
While the other THACs typically focus on either nonsense or comedy, Osom Studio's seems to take a different direction. Like his newest hit, Trapped in Sin, this entry focuses on spiritual issues. The lighting is superb, and the emotion is very well communicated. This could be my favorite THAC of all.

I don't mean to offend anyone if your entry may not have made it in this list. These three were just my personal favorites. I also haven't seen all of the entries, so I may have not even seen yours. All the THACs this year were great. I can't wait to see the results. And I can't wait for next year's THAC!
